When computers turn ugly…. Thursday, Jul 3 2008

Today we had a very difficult lesson where lots of things went wrong with the computers. Some computers couldn’t capture the audio from the players, none of us could upload to Blip.tv and it took a while to get into WordPress.

However, I just wanted to tell the class that I think you’re a great class to work with and I really appreciate your committment and enthusiasm – even when things go pear-shaped – as I know how frustrating it is not to move forward with your work.

So, onwards and upwards, and I’m looking forward to getting all of your episodes online as soon as possible.

Teresa.

Character voice Thursday, Jul 3 2008

In Week 4, we were focussing on character voices. In Radio, one person can play several different characters if the voices are distinct enough.

We practiced character voices with the exercise, ‘What’s In The Box?’

Hoax Radio Stories Thursday, Jun 19 2008

We got together to listen to a famous radio hoax. Orson Welles’ version of ‘The War of the Worlds’. It was broadcast 1n 1938 and caused total hysteria when people thought it was really happening. You can read about the full story here.

We worked out stories which we thought would make as big an impression as the War of the Worlds fake radio show.
